Online Counselling Sessions

At Little Lighthouse Therapy,   we understand that sometimes it can feel difficult to attend therapy in person—whether because of distance, health needs, busy family life or a child’s anxiety about new places. Online therapy with Little Lighthouse Therapy can be a gentle and effective way for children to receive support from the comfort of their own home.

I offer secure, confidential video sessions designed especially for children and young people. These sessions can be particularly helpful for those who:

  • Experience anxiety, worries or low mood and feel safer starting therapy in a familiar space

  • Have neurodiverse needs, such as ADHD or autism, where travelling or new environments can feel overwhelming

  • Are coping with loss, separation,  and may find it easier to open up at home

  • Struggle with school pressures, friendships, or self-esteem and need flexible support

Online therapy sessions at Little Lighthouse Therapy follow the same warm, creative approach as my in-person work. Using play, art and conversation, I help children explore feelings, build coping strategies and develop confidence. Parents receive guidance on creating a calm, private space and are included in regular check-ins so that we can work together.

Many families find that starting online helps their child engage at their own pace, and some choose to combine online and in-person sessions as confidence grows. My aim is to make therapy accessible, safe and tailored to your child’s needs, wherever you are.

What Happens During A Therapy Session

Each online session is a safe, private space where your child can share feelings, play and talk at their own pace. Sessions last around 50 minutes and follow a gentle, child-led approach.

I might use drawing, creative play, storytelling or conversation to help your child express thoughts and worries. Sometimes we focus on coping strategies, like calming techniques or problem-solving skills, depending on their needs that day.

Parents are supported too. We’ll agree how best to share updates and progress, so you feel included without interrupting your child’s confidential space. My aim is to make online sessions feel warm, engaging and secure, helping your child build confidence and emotional resilience from the comfort of home.

How Long Does Therapy Take

Every child is unique, and so is the length of their therapy.

At Little Lighthouse Therapy, every journey starts with a parent consultation to hear your concerns and gather background information. Therapy then begins with a six-week assessment period, giving time for your child to get to know me, feel safe, and share their experiences. During these first sessions, I build trust with your child and develop a clear plan for their support.

At the end of the six weeks, we meet together to review progress and decide on the best next steps. Some children benefit from a shorter piece of work (around twelve sessions) to help with a specific issue or recent life event. Others may need longer-term therapy, especially if difficulties have been present for a while or are more complex.

Throughout the process, my goal is to ensure therapy moves at your child’s pace, with regular opportunities for parents to be involved and informed.
