About Me

Kerri Potter Child Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

Hello, I’m Kerri, a qualified Psychotherapeutic Child Counsellor (MBACP) and the founder of Little Lighthouse Therapy, based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. I trained at the renowned Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE), where I received specialist, in-depth training in child development, creative therapies, attachment and trauma-informed practice.

I offer gentle, creative, and child-centred therapy for children and young people aged 4 to 18 — supporting them to feel safe, seen, and emotionally supported as they navigate life’s challenges. My approach combines play, creativity, and relational connection to help each child express themselves in a way that feels natural, supported, and fully their own.

Children don’t need to come to therapy with the “right words.” Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, low confidence, friendship issues, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, I’m here to meet them exactly where they are — with warmth, curiosity, and care.

A Calm, Creative Space for Emotional Support

At Little Lighthouse Therapy, every child is treated as a unique individual. I take the time to get to know your child — their strengths, challenges, personality and experiences — so that therapy feels safe, meaningful, and tailored just for them.

There’s no pressure to talk before they’re ready. Instead, I offer a flexible, nurturing space where your child can express themselves in the way that feels most natural.

Working With You, the Parent/Carer

You know your child best — and your involvement is a vital part of the process.

Before therapy begins, I will meet with you to learn more about your child’s history, challenges and hopes. With your permission, I may also speak with teachers or other professionals involved in their care to ensure joined-up, consistent support.

I also offer space for parents and carers to reflect, ask questions, and feel more confident in supporting their child’s emotional needs — not just in the therapy room, but at home, at school, and in everyday life.
