Support for You and Your Child

art therapy and child attachment

Finding the Right Therapist

Finding the right therapist for your child — and for you as a parent or carer — can feel like a big step. I understand the importance of feeling safe, heard, and supported from the very beginning.

We’d love to hear from you. Simply click the Contact Us button below to send a message, and we’ll reply within 48 hours to arrange a short, friendly phone call.

This call is a gentle opportunity to talk through what’s been happening for you and your child, explore the kind of support you’re looking for, and see whether Little Lighthouse Therapy feels like the right fit for your family. There’s absolutely no pressure or obligation — just a chance to connect.

If you’d like to move forward after this initial conversation, we can then arrange a suitable time for your assessment meeting. Ahead of this, we’ll send you a brief Initial Enquiry Form to complete, which helps me prepare by gaining a clearer picture of your child’s needs and your hopes as a parent. This way, we can begin to think together about the best way forward.

What to Expect from the Assessment Session

All of my work begins with an initial assessment session, which lasts 60 minutes. This is an opportunity for us to explore your concerns, discuss your child’s history and experiences, and collaborate on thinking about your hopes for therapy.

If you're seeking support as a parent or caregiver, the initial session provides you with space to explore your own experiences and the challenges you’re facing, without judgment.

At the end of the session, we’ll decide together on the most supportive next step — whether that’s beginning therapy for your child, starting parent support sessions with Little Lighthouse Therapy, or signposting you to another form of help that may be better suited to your family’s needs.

How Child Therapy Sessions Work

How Child Therapy Sessions Work

  •  One-to-one support: Sessions are held just between your child and me, providing a safe and consistent space that belongs to them.

  • 50 minutes weekly: We’ll agree on a regular time each week, either at my private therapy room at The Clinic at Borde Hill, or in your child’s school (with permission).

  • Integrative approach: I use a range of therapeutic methods — including play, art, music, movement, and talking therapies — so your child has different ways to express themselves and feel understood.

  • Why integrative therapy helps: Every child is unique. Some may find words difficult, but can tell their story through play or drawing. Others may open up through movement, music, or gentle conversation. By combining approaches, therapy adapts to your child’s needs, giving them the best chance to feel safe, supported, and empowered.

  • Confidential and safe: Your child’s privacy is respected at all times. I share general themes with you as a parent or carer but keep the details private to protect your child’s trust.

  • Clear boundaries: If there is ever a concern that your child (or someone else) may be at risk of harm, I have a duty of care to share this with the appropriate people. Wherever possible, I will speak with you and your child before taking further steps.
